Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine placental tissue distribution of fibronectin and fibrinogen in preeclampsia.
Placental tissues were obtained after delivery from six normotensive, four mild preeclamptic, and thirteen severe preeclamptic pregnancies.
Immunohistochemical stainings of placental tissues were perfomed using rabbit anti-human fibronectin and rabbit anti-human fibrinogen. The intensity of positive staining was scored 0, 1, 2 and 3 by pathologist and the scores of each group were
analysed
to investigate the role of fibronectin and fibrinogen in preeclampsia.
@ES The resuts were as follows,
@EN 1. Fetal villous vessel and villous stroma in preeclampsia showed significantly decreased tissue fibronectin compared with normotensive placenta.
2. The fetal villous vessels were prominent decrease in preeclampsia with intrauterine fetal growth retardation compared with preeclampsia without intrauterine fetal growth retardation.
3. The villous basement membranes of all normotensive and preeclamptic placenta did not show fibronectin staining but moderate staining in fibrinogen.
4. There was no difference in fibrin distribution in fetal vessels, intervillous space and stroma between preeclamptic and normotensive pregnancies.
This results reflect that there are some differences in the tissue distribution of fibronectin and fibrinogen and the role of this difference has to be elucidated in future.
